Care Center Administrator

The Administrator oversees all aspects of the Care Center, including staff management, resident care quality, budget oversight, facility maintenance, and compliance with regulations, ensuring the smooth operation of the facility while prioritizing the well-being and safety of residents by directing and coordinating all departments within the Care Center. Bachelor's Degree required with at least two years previous experience as a long-term care administrator. Must be licensed as a nursing home administrator in the state of Wyoming or eligible to obtain.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides leadership for the strategic and operational planning for the care center. 
• Contributes to facility-wide strategic and operational planning with emphasis on establishment of objectives, long range planning, and program development.
• Assure that resident care provided to all residents meets or exceeds established standards.
• Directs the quality management plan consistent with the facility wide plan to improve organizational improvement.
• Makes routine rounds to interact with directors, and staff, review delivery system, and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
• Utilizes quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) principles to develop and execute a plan of action for improved resident care based upon identified needs in a timely manner.
• Assures that individualized, goal-directed nursing care is provided to residents through the nursing process.
• Assure that all policies and procedures reflect the written standards of practice as defined by Powell Valley Healthcare and comply with all State and Federal regulations and Joint Commission requirements.
• Assists in preparation for state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting surveys.
• Establishes a program for annual evaluation of policies and procedures.
• Evaluates need for new policies and procedures and implement development.
• Evaluates and follows up on all resident, family, physician, or administrative complaints upon notice of complaint.
• Assures that staffing levels and competencies are appropriate and in complaint with federal and state regulations.
• Collaborates with Care Center leaders to develop staffing plans and evaluates staff utilization as evidenced by compliance with established acuity, skill mix, and productivity standards.
• Assures staff development activities are ongoing and designed to increase the staff's knowledge and maintain current competence.
• Effectively manages human resources to ensure adequate staffing plans and evaluates staffing positions, including hiring, performance evaluations, transfer, terminations. Assures compliance by staff with policies and procedures. Takes actions which are fair, objective, developmental, and timely.
• Provides educational opportunities for staff
• Assures adherence to personnel policies and procedures
• Reviews personnel actions for developmental staff, specifically evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Hires, evaluates and recommends disciplinary action for Care Center leadership.
• Directs the budgetary and financial responsibilities for the Care Center
• Prepares, in collaboration with the department leaders, an operational and capital budget on an annual basis.
• Examines budget compliance throughout the year and reviews variance with appropriate leaders.
• Reviews inventory levels in all department to assure cost containment efforts are maintained.
• Communicates facility policies and acts as a liaison to the medical staff.
• Conducts leadership meetings at least monthly for the purpose of identifying, communicating, and solving problems related to resident care.
• Attends additional meetings representing Care Center regarding resident care issues and quality assures issues as requested.
• Attends all Care Center department staff meetings, as appropriate.
• Works closely with the Care Center Medical Director.
• Collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer and department leaders to assure safe resident care.
• Review all occurrence reports for appropriate action and follow up.
• Collaborates with the Risk Manager to determine trends of resident occurrences and action to be taken to reduce resident risk as determined by the Risk Management reports.
• Participates in committees as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, at least two (2) prior years' experience as an administrator in a long-term care setting required
• Preference will be given to candidate with a degree in nursing
• Must be licensed as a nursing home administrator in the state of Wyoming or have the ability to obtain a Wyoming license
• BLS certified

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to understand the basic metric system.
• Operation of typical office equipment such as P. C's, printers, terminals, calculator, FAX, copiers.
• Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Ability to act as a resident advocate and interact with residents, families and staff. Ability to interact assertively and tactfully when dealing with conflict and in group solving activities. Ability to fulfill core competencies in clinical areas.
• Read, write and speak in English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

• Regularly lifting or move objects weighing 10 - 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, and working with equipment.
• Subject to inside and possibly outside weather conditions.
• The employee is also subject to exposure to blood and body fluids, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, exposure to burns and radiant energy, exposure to explosives, exposure to toxic chemicals and biological agents.
